Antique Oak Jacobean Revival Cabinet on Stand — Carved with Key
A solid carved oak cabinet on stand in the Jacobean Revival style, dating to the late 19th century — built after the court cupboard tradition of 17th-century England at a time when the Revival form was executed with considerably more care than the factory runs that followed two decades later. Every surface earns its place: the twin doors carry fan-arched sunflower rosettes and scrolling acanthus — the defining ornamental vocabulary of the Jacobean period — the full-width dovetail drawer below repeats the grape-and-vine motif, and the stand's apron continues the program without interruption. Four turned baluster legs and a box stretcher complete the form. The cabinet locks with an included original key. Interior finished in black. Construction is solid wood throughout; the carving remains crisp and fully intact across all surfaces.
The cabinet box and stand separate for transport — a practical advantage that rarely accompanies a piece with this carving density and visual weight.
CONDITION Good. Scuffs, dings, scratches, and other signs of age-appropriate wear throughout. Interior shelf is warped. Corner of the cabinet box shows chipping and finish loss where the molding edge meets the case side, with raw wood exposed.
