Antique Shirvan rug from Azerbaijan, dating to the first quarter of the 20th century, featuring a classic Caucasian geometric design. The field centers on a bold medallion with stylized tribal motifs, framed by multiple intricate borders with repeating hooked and angular forms. The rich palette of reds, ivory, deep navy, and soft blue gives the piece strong visual presence—especially suited for spaces with natural materials like wood or Saltillo tile, or as a distinctive adobe-style accent.
Hand-knotted with a fine weave (approx. 255 knots per square inch), this rug reflects the detailed craftsmanship associated with Shirvan weaving. Despite its wear, it retains excellent decorative appeal and can be appreciated as-is or repurposed as a character-rich textile for display.
Condition:In poor condition with heavy wear, including threadbare areas, small holes, and exposed foundation. Fringe is absent, with raveling to the ends and wear to the selvedges. A small paint stain is present. No odors detected. Displays attractively despite condition issues.
