Description

John A. White — Adobe Watercolor Landscape — Original

An original watercolor depicting a classic New Mexico adobe casa — flat-roofed structure with teal-trimmed doorway and windows, ristras hanging from the vigas, a weathered coyote fence, and a backdrop of layered mountains and piñon pines. Painted on Arches paper with natural deckle edges on all four sides, the composition moves from dusty ochres and burnt sienna in the foreground earth to soft blue-violet in the distance — confident, loose brushwork with a strong plein air sensibility. Signed in ink lower right: John A. White.

Presented in a beveled wood frame with triple suede matting behind glass.

CONDITION

Very Good. Watercolor surface is clean with no foxing, fading, or moisture damage. No remarkable damage noted.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

John A. White is a listed Oklahoma-based watercolor artist who has been a working professional since 1984. Of Cherokee heritage and raised in Anadarko, Oklahoma, White received his only formal training in high school before spending more than a decade as an illustrator and draftsman — a background that sharpened the precision and economy evident in his brushwork. His subjects range from Native American themes to the adobe landscapes and high desert terrain of the American Southwest, rendered in a loose, luminous style that has earned him collectors in the United States, Russia, Germany, and France. Original works by White are held in the permanent collection of the Oklahoma State Capitol Supreme Court Building and Lake Murray Lodge. He has taught watercolor at Murray State College and the Charles B. Goddard Art Studios in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
