White Sands New Mexico Landscape — Oil on Canvas, Signed, Framed
White Sands National Park and the Organ Mountains have drawn painters to Doña Ana County for generations, and this small oil captures exactly why — a blooming yucca against a cloud-swept desert sky, snow-dusted peaks fading into the middle distance, and the sparse wildflower color that defines the Chihuahuan Desert floor in season. The brushwork is direct and confident: spiny yucca crowns built up in layered impasto, the mountain range handled in cool blue-grey washes, scattered orange-red wildflowers keeping the foreground alive. It is the kind of painting made by someone who knew this landscape firsthand.
Signed lower right in paint as "Mirta" — the artist has not been identified in current records, and the work is offered as by an unknown regional painter. Housed in a stepped painted wood frame with linen liner mat, unglazed.
CONDITION
Good. Canvas and paint film are intact with no cracking, lifting, or restoration visible. The frame carries minor scuffs and light paint loss along the outer molding edges; the image area is undamaged.
