Mexican Market Scene, Oil on Canvas Panel
A sun-drenched Mexican market scene painted in oil on canvas panel, signed lower left "Angeles F." and dated August 1975. The composition centers on pottery vendors in fringed ponchos and wide-brimmed straw hats presiding over a foreground spread of earthenware ollas in varying sizes, their dark-rimmed openings catching the light. In the middle distance, figures in white gather at a wooden market stall; to the left, a seated woman sells fruit beside baskets of oranges and limes against a whitewashed adobe wall. The palette moves through warm ochres, terracottas, and dusty greens with confident, direct brushwork throughout.
Presented in a substantial dark walnut-toned frame with a narrow gold inner liner, displayed without glass. "Angeles F." has not been fully identified — further research may establish attribution.
CONDITION
Good. The panel presents well overall with colors remaining vivid and the composition reading cleanly at normal viewing distance. A minor area of surface damage is present but only discernible on close inspection.
