German Stoneware Beer Stein Collection — Gerz, King, Anheuser-Busch

Eight German stoneware beer steins sold as one lot, representing three confirmed makers and spanning several decades of production. Six pieces bear Gerz (Siershahn, West Germany) marks in two variants — the earlier circular "Germany" stamp and the rectangular "West Germany" block mark — with one Gerz example accompanied by an original Gerz Beer Stein Collecting reference booklet. Two Original King examples carry the multilingual "Handarbeit / Handmade" circular stamp (model 702, ½L). The Anheuser-Busch promotional stein is marked on its base by Ceramarte, Brazil — "A" Series, item 92229 — with a base inscription noting the stein illustrates the brewing and fermentation process of the 17th century; additional maker information appears under the lid as shown. Relief decoration across the lot spans Märchen fairy-tale figures, alpine edelweiss scenes, hunting motifs, village folk life, and city landmark panels for Stuttgart and Hamburg. All eight steins carry fitted pewter lids with thumblifts.

CONDITION

Good — all eight steins present without chips, cracks, or repairs; relief decoration is intact and vivid throughout. Pewter lids show minor scuffing and toning consistent with age; bases display light surface grime and lime deposits typical of regular use.
