The subject wears a traditional wrapped head covering that sweeps back and upward; the warm ochre of the burnished facial planes transitions to cool gray-green at the chest and base, with dark mineral inclusions speckled throughout. The flat unfinished base exposes the raw stone cross-section, and the contrast between the mirror-polished face and tool-marked chest is characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century Zimbabwean stone carving.
