Frank Lloyd Wright Willits Mantel Clock — Bulova B1839

The Bulova B1839 "Willits" is part of the official Frank Lloyd Wright Collection® — a licensed mantel clock whose face panel directly adapts the art glass windows from the living room of the Ward W. Willits House, Wright's 1902 Prairie-style masterpiece in Highland Park, Illinois. A version of that same window design is held in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. The geometric grid — mint green columns, deep forest green accents, bold black leading lines on white — is rendered on a protective glass panel that runs the full height of the case, with a clear back panel that allows light to pass through from behind. The solid wood case is finished in walnut with a multi-step crown and a splayed plinth base, both consistent with Wright's Prairie architectural vocabulary. No numerals appear on the face; a single black square marks 12 o'clock. The FLW red chop-mark logo and "Bulova Quartz" are printed on the lower face panel. The quartz movement drives a silent sweep second hand — no ticking — and a decorative geometric wood pendulum swings freely behind the glass.

CONDITION

Good. Fully functional and tested; the movement runs cleanly with a silent sweep and the pendulum swings freely. Minor knicks to the wood case edges are present but difficult to detect and do not affect display.
