1920s Cast Iron Flower Basket Bookends/Doorstops — Two Colorways, Original Paint
Two cast iron flower basket bookends or doorstops from the same mold, hand-painted in two distinct colorways.
Two colorways, one mold, one era: an unusual survivor pair that documents exactly how foundries customized the same casting for different markets and tastes. Both retain original paint. Sold as a pair.
CONDITION
Good. Both pieces present solidly with no cracks, breaks, or repairs, and original paint intact on each. Minor chipping and surface wear throughout — more pronounced on the yellow example across the basket body and base edges. The polychrome piece retains stronger color fidelity across the floral arrangement. Age-appropriate patina on both flat reverses.
