Folk Art Hand-Painted Bench — Floral Vine Apron, Mortise & Tenon
A hand-built solid wood bench finished in robin's egg blue with a continuous hand-painted floral vine running the full length of the apron. The decoration — rendered in red, cobalt blue, and multiple greens — features stylized tulip-form blooms, broad leaves, and fluid vine work consistent with European folk painting traditions. Construction is mortise-and-tenon throughout, with a thick plank top, chamfered corners, and through-notched trestle legs. The grain reads through the paint surface, giving the piece an authentically aged, dry character that belongs to a working rural craft tradition rather than decorative reproduction.
CONDITION
Good. Sturdy with no joint movement; rustic by design with surface texture and finish wear consistent with age and use. Chipped paint and bare wood exposure at the feet.
