Japanese Porcelain Luster Tea Service — Gold & Cobalt Paulownia, 21-Pc
A Japanese export porcelain tea service finished in warm peach luster with deeply applied raised-gold overlay depicting stylized leaf and berry motifs, accented with cobalt-blue enamel fills. Interiors carry a soft lavender-blue luster glaze that shifts in light. The angular teapot, creamer, and sugar bowl reflect Art Deco geometry popular in the Japanese export market of the 1920s–1940s. All pieces bear a Paulownia (kiri) mark above "Made in Japan," a heraldic device used by quality export potteries of the period.
The 21-piece lot comprises one teapot, one creamer, one lidded sugar bowl, six teacups, six 5½" saucers, and six 7½" dinner/dessert plates.
CONDITION Good overall, with gold overlay retaining strong coverage and luster glaze remaining vivid across most pieces. Signs of use are present on the majority of pieces — expect light wear to gold on high-contact edges and interior surfaces. One teacup carries a previous repair; no chips, cracks, or losses are noted on the remaining 20 pieces.
