Murano Art Glass Duck — Black & Silver Foil, Amethyst Beak
A hand-blown Murano duck in a bold black and silver colorway, constructed with an applied head — a second gather attached at the furnace — finished with applied black glass eyes and a separately formed amethyst glass bill. The body is deep black over dark reddish-brown, shot through with suspended silver foil (argento) fused between glass layers during blowing. Foil density shifts from fine and even across the body to bold and clustered at the head and neck, creating a two-register visual effect that reads differently in direct versus ambient light. The upswept tail is formed in clear glass, revealing the dark interior core. Unsigned; no label present.
Where a naturalistic mallard palette reads as decorative, this black-and-silver composition reads as graphic and sculptural — the amethyst bill is the single warm accent in an otherwise monochromatic form, and it lands precisely where the eye wants it.
