Description

Sancai Tang-Style Horse Figures — Cast Resin, Matched Pair
A matched pair of large-scale hand-painted cast resin horse figures executed in the Tang sancai tradition — the celebrated three-color palette of amber, green, and cream applied over a black ground. Each horse stands alert on a rectangular base, fully caparisoned in sculpted detail: a striated amber saddle blanket with hanging tassels, embossed lattice medallions at the hindquarters, articulated multi-strap bridle with decorative rosettes, and a flame-cut mane crown. Cream-toned muzzle and lower legs ground the figures in the material vocabulary of Tang funerary sculpture. Felt-bottomed bases protect display surfaces.

The pair presents as a true mirror set — heads turned subtly inward, postures matched — scaled to flank an entry or anchor a room. At 17½ inches tall and 8 lbs each, these carry genuine presence on the floor or a console.

CONDITION

Excellent. Both figures are free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. Glaze saturation and hand-painted detail are sharp and consistent across both pieces. No repairs or touch-ups detected.
