Exceptional pair of Maitland-Smith frog-form lidded containers, crafted in bronze and richly figured penshell, presented in complementary graduated sizes. Each jar features a finely cast bronze frog lid with crown finial, detailed texturing, and sculptural legs, set atop a rounded body clad in lustrous penshell with a deep tortoiseshell appearance and characteristic crackle lacquer finish.

Produced in the Philippines by Heritage Home Group, these late 20th century pieces were originally retailed through high-end showrooms and reflect Maitland-Smith’s signature use of exotic materials and distinctive, whimsical design - they retailed for over $2000. Both decorative and functional, the lids lift via the frog heads to reveal interior storage compartments.
