9-Drawer Dresser & Mirror — Knotty Cherry Veneer, Brass Hardware

A large-scale Baroque Revival dresser and mirror in a warm rustic cherry finish. The serpentine-front case runs 72 inches wide with nine drawers flanked by carved column pilasters with acanthus-scroll capitals, a center two-door cabinet concealing a fixed shelf, and turned bun feet. Both cabinet doors carry oval-framed parquetry panels veneered in a radiating diamond pattern — the knotty cherry veneer's natural character marks reading clearly through the finish. Hardware throughout is cast brass: ornate scrollwork bail pulls on the outer drawers, paired floral knobs at the center. The felt-lined top center drawer is a welcome detail on a piece built for daily use.

The matching mirror is built to the same scale — a dramatic broken-pediment bonnet with carved shell-and-volute finial, parquetry-veneered crest panel repeating the diamond motif, reeded column pilasters, and dual rectangular glass panels set into a reeded lower rail. CONDITION

Fair. Structurally sound and sturdy with all drawers operating and hardware intact. The top surface shows significant finish fade and a prominent diagonal crack through the parquetry veneer with an adjacent lifted chip at the upper right corner; the front top molding edge has finish crazing along its length; and one side panel shows a section of lifted and peeled veneer approximately 6–8 inches exposing the substrate. Additional scuffs, scratches, and finish wear present throughout consistent with years of use. Mirror glass is clean — no chips or silver loss observed.
