IKEA Billy Bookcases Pair — Discontinued Medium Brown, c. 1999, Germany

Matched pair of IKEA Billy open-shelf bookcases in a discontinued medium brown wood veneer finish, confirmed by internal labels as Billy #11989, made in Germany c. 1999. One standard-width unit and one narrow unit, both full height, in the warm reddish-brown veneer IKEA phased out in the mid-2000s and no longer produces in any form. The current Billy line — redesigned in 2024 — uses printed paper foil rather than real wood veneer, making these pre-redesign units materially superior to anything available new. Shelves are pin-mounted on a 32mm grid throughout; each unit retains one fixed shelf. Both units are freestanding and separable.

For buyers already running a medium brown Billy installation, a matched pair in this color is effectively irreplaceable from current stock.

CONDITION Good. Both units present cleanly with consistent finish and no delamination or structural damage observed. Light signs of use including minor scuffs consistent with normal handling.
