Moroccan Copper & Brass Dome-Top Trunk — Felt Lined, Double Handles
A large dome-top storage trunk constructed over a wood core and fully sheathed in hand-chased copper, with dense arabesque and interlocking foliate scrollwork covering every exterior surface. Brass banding frames the lid, front, and side panels; the front hasp is an ornately engraved brass cartouche with foliate piercing; double side handles are cast brass in a scrolled form. The lid is supported by brass link chains and opens to a fully green felt-lined interior with brass-trimmed edges. A paper label affixed to the rear panel reads "Made in Morocco" with reference number 21832.
CONDITION
Good. The trunk is structurally sturdy with functional hardware and intact felt lining. The exterior copper shows uneven patination across all surfaces — ranging from warm rose copper to dark oxidized bronze — with scattered scratches, dings, dents, and areas of heavier surface corrosion on the side panels consistent with age. A visible solder repair is present around the front hasp mounting.
