Hand-Knotted Turkish Oushak Wool Rug 7'11" x 9'11" — Steel Blue Tribal Floral
A hand-knotted Turkish Oushak area rug from Uşak, a weaving center active since the 15th century and long regarded as the standard-bearer for Turkish rug craft. The steel blue field is worked in an all-over tribal-floral layout — scattered rosettes, angular palmettes, boteh, and geometric connector vines in coral, orange, gold, teal, burgundy, olive, and cream — knotted on a cotton foundation using the Turkish Ghiordes double knot, which produces a denser, more resilient pile than single-knot construction. The abrash — organic tonal variation across the field — is a natural consequence of hand-spun wool and vegetable dyes, and a recognized marker of authentic handmade production. Retail $8,000.
CONDITION
Very Good. Pile is full and even with no matting, thinning, or repairs observed. No stains or odors present; fringe shows minor unevenness consistent with normal use.
