Henredon Aston Court King Panel Bed — Flame Mahogany, Carved Posts

A king-size panel bed from Henredon's Aston Court collection, produced in the 1990s in the United States during Henredon's American manufacturing era — the period collectors consistently identify as the brand's quality benchmark. Built in Philippine mahogany solids with mahogany swirl and khaya veneers, the piece follows a Victorian Renaissance Revival format of substantial scale and architectural ambition.

The headboard rises to a bold arched crest framed in burl wood with black vine-and-scroll inlay, the arch built up in deeply molded concentric profiles that draw the eye to the sunburst-matched flame mahogany center panel below. Flanking the arch are full-height carved corner posts articulated in three tiers: a stepped plinth base, a mid-shaft with deeply cut acanthus leaf corbels, and a turned baluster column topped by a carved urn finial — hallmarks of the hand-carving standards Henredon maintained throughout the Aston Court line.

The footboard mirrors the headboard's vocabulary at a lower scale, presenting its own sunburst-matched flame mahogany panel within a molded rectangular frame, with identical carved pilaster corners on block plinth feet. Ebonized inlay scrollwork, dot inlay accents, and molding transitions are consistent and precise throughout. Internal markings read 4601-12 / 37420-3120 / HY-YH-YN; Henredon factory inspection label #4375422 is affixed to the interior rail.

The lot includes headboard, footboard, two bolt-on side rails with original hardware, and a center metal support slat system — complete and functional, requiring only a mattress set.

CONDITION Good — carved ornament, veneer panels, and finish present with strong visual impact and rich, even color across all primary surfaces; scuffing is present on multiple areas consistent with residential use and moving. Veneer separation at one upper headboard crown molding corner joint shows minor raw wood exposure; a hairline crack runs along the adjacent cornice joint on the same corner, both stable, localized, and non-structural.
