Navajo Wool Rug Hand Woven 59x37 — Stepped Diamond Red Black Gray Cream
A hand-woven 100% wool Navajo rug in a stepped interlocking diamond composition, worked in dyed red and black alongside natural undyed cream and gray on a weft-faced tapestry weave. The central field carries two large mirrored stepped-diamond forms with sawtooth transitions at each design boundary, framed by a solid black outer border and cream inner band. The colorway and broad diamond layout draw from Ganado palette conventions; without a specific trading post attribution, this is a non-regional commercial production piece consistent with mid-century Navajo output. At 9 warps and 7 wefts per inch, the weave count places it in the coarser commercial grade, sometimes called a pound rug in the trade.
CONDITION
Fair. Multiple stains are distributed throughout the cream field, ranging from faint tan spotting to more concentrated discoloration in the center section. Faint isolated moth damage is present and should be evaluated before storage alongside other textiles.
