Roy Purcell "Lost Burro Mine" Etching — Signed, 56/75, Framed
A sepia-toned intaglio etching by Roy Purcell (American, b. 1936), depicting the Lost Burro Mine — a Desert ghost-town camp rendered in fine crosshatched line work on cream paper. Purcell, who worked as a miner in the Arizona desert before establishing himself as one of the Southwest's most collected printmakers, brings firsthand authority to the scene: weathered log-and-corrugated-metal structures, a headframe, Joshua trees, and handpainted signs reading "Lost Burro Mine" and "Trespassers Will Be Shot" fill a soft deckled vignette. Pencil-signed "Purcell" lower right with edition number 56/75; title inscribed lower left.
Housed in a rustic-style wood frame behind glass with a cream mat. Purcell's etchings are held in private and corporate collections across the United States, Japan, Europe, and Australia.
CONDITION
Good. Image and paper are intact with even toning and crisp line detail throughout. Minor debris is present behind the glass.
