Title: Morgan's Raiders
"Morgan's Raiders" is a limited-edition offset lithograph by Mort Künstler depicting Brigadier General John Hunt Morgan's Confederate cavalry assembled at Alexandria, Tennessee on December 21, 1862 — the eve of the Christmas Raid into Kentucky. Printed on rag content, neutral pH paper using archival-quality fade-resistant inks, the image measures 14¼ x 24 inches. The print bears Künstler's hand signature and edition number and is presented in a wood frame with a double mat. Edition size was 1,250 signed and numbered impressions, with 50 artist proofs; all plates have been destroyed.
The lot includes the framed print, the original Certificate of Authenticity signed by publisher Ted Sutphen, printer Robert Tursack Jr., and artist Mort Künstler, an illustrated artist biography sheet, and a supplemental historical narrative specific to this subject.
CONDITION
Good. The print image itself retains strong color and detail with no visible foxing. Some debris is present behind the glass, and color fade is noted to the matting.
