Philco 47-204 Tube Radio 1947 AM Bakelite Style Table Radio
This Philco Model 47-204 (Code 125) AM tube radio, produced around 1946–1947, represents Philco’s popular post-war tabletop radio design. The set features a brown textured cabinet with an ivory-tone molded front, horizontal speaker grille, and a distinctive Philco dial with red pointer displaying standard AM broadcast frequencies. Two matching cream knobs with brass-tone centers control tuning and volume.
Inside, the chassis retains its tube configuration including 35Y4 rectifier, 50L6GT output, 14A7 converter, 14B6 detector/AVC, and 7A8 tubes, as indicated on the original Philco service label. This lineup was typical of compact AC/DC “All-American Five” style radios used widely in mid-century homes.
Manufactured by Philco (Philadelphia Storage Battery Company), one of America’s leading radio makers of the 1930s–40s, this model reflects the shift toward streamlined, compact radios designed for everyday household listening after World War II. These sets remain collectible for their distinctive mid-century styling and classic vacuum tube sound.
Condition:
Good vintage condition. Sounds great! The radio has been tested and is fully functional. Minor finish imperfections are present consistent with age, most noticeable near the feet and along the lower edges. Interior components and labels remain intact, and the original power cord is present. Overall, a very good example for its age with light cosmetic wear.
Dimensions:
7 1/4 x 13 3/8 x 7 1/2 inches (Height x Width x Depth).
