Rose Medallion Famille Rose Porcelain Garniture 4-Pc — 20th C. Canton Export
A four-piece hand-painted Canton famille rose garniture in the Rose Medallion pattern, comprising a baluster vase, an octagonal shallow dish, and a matched pair of square-tapered candlesticks, produced in China for the export market in the mid-to-late 20th century. Each piece is decorated in the classic palette of rose peonies, coral-orange terrace grounds, green foliage, and black cash medallions, with alternating panels depicting court figures — attendants and scholars in pavilion settings — interspersed with dense floral and bird vignettes. The reverse panels of the vase carry a bird-and-flower composition. The pattern reached its artistic peak in the mid-19th century, though production has continued into the modern era Wikipedia; this garniture represents the later export tradition. The octagonal dish carries an iron-red seal-script mark to its base.
The lot consists of the baluster vase, the octagonal dish, and the matched pair of candlesticks — four pieces total.
CONDITION
Good. Enamels are colorful and surfaces are intact across all four pieces. Wax residue is present on both candlestick bobeches; light wear to gilt rim edges consistent with age and use.
