200lb Maple Butcher Block 32.25" W × 30" D × 30 End-Grain Top, Turned Legs
This is the real thing — a true commercial butcher's block in hard maple, not a furniture adaptation or a kitchen island with a wood top, but the actual freestanding chopping instrument that stood in a New Jersey butcher shop and did serious work for decades. No further questions necessary. The 14.25-inch top is built end-grain up, so every knife stroke parts the wood's natural fibers rather than severs them: a self-healing surface that closes behind the blade and outlasts any edge-grain or stone alternative. The body is secured by through-bolts with flush wooden plug caps on all four faces — the gold standard of commercial block construction — and the four boldly turned baluster legs are removable, a practical concession to moving 200 pounds of maple.
At 30 inches tall, it stands at standard counter height and drops directly into any serious kitchen as a prep station or carving block. It is equally at home as the anchor piece in a farmhouse, live-edge, or industrial interior — the kind of object that takes forty years of hard use to look this good. Not from Satriale's. Probably.
CONDITION Good. Structurally sound throughout — the through-bolt assembly is tight. Surface chipping, scuffing, and wear are present on the top and all four side faces consistent with decades of commercial use.
