Moroccan Berber Boucherouite Rag Rug Wall Hanging — Diamond Lattice, Multicolor
A hand-made Moroccan Boucherouite runner constructed from knotted recycled textile strips in the traditional Berber rag rug technique. The face presents a bold all-over diamond lattice on a golden yellow and black ground, with each lozenge filled in a distinct color — cobalt blue, burgundy, red, purple, sage green, peach, orange, and ivory — creating an improvised, painterly quality characteristic of the genre. Pile depth is substantial throughout, with a woven flat-weave kilim transition band separating the pile field from the knotted fringe at the lower end. The rug is mounted face-out on a black-painted wooden display panel with teal hanging cord secured at the top edge.
CONDITION
Good. Colors remain vivid and the pile is intact across the majority of the field. Several diamonds show void areas where knots are absent or have shed, most visible in the upper field; fringe is intact but uneven in length with some tangling.
