Guillermina Aguilar Clay Religious Figure Signed G.A.A. Folk Art
Handcrafted clay devotional figure attributed to Guillermina Aguilar Alcántara, a member of the renowned Aguilar family of ceramic artists from Ocotlán de Morelos, Oaxaca, Mexico. This hand-sculpted piece features a robed religious figure decorated with raised white floral motifs, gold accents, and a metal crown with cross finial, reflecting the expressive detailing associated with Aguilar family folk art. The sculpture is hand-painted and incised “G.A.A.” on the underside, consistent with initials used by artists within the Aguilar family tradition.
The Aguilar family is internationally recognized for their finely modeled clay figures depicting religious subjects and cultural scenes. Their work has been widely collected and exhibited, making signed examples appealing to collectors of Mexican folk art and devotional sculpture.
