Lionel 259E O Gauge Steam Locomotive & Tender — 1930s Prewar, Flatcar
The Lionel 259E is a prewar O gauge electric steam locomotive manufactured by The Lionel Corporation in the 1930s. The pressed steel body is finished in black enamel with nickel steam lines, sand dome covers, and boiler fittings. The boiler front carries a stamped "259E" number plate, and the cab side bears the orange-and-black Lionel herald medallion. The 2-4-2 wheel arrangement features red-painted pilot and trailing wheels, black spoked drive wheels, and nickel connecting rods. The matching pressed steel tender is finished in gunmetal gray with simulated rivet detail and a raised "Lionel Lines" nameplate on the side. An original Lionel Corporation lubrication instruction label remains on the locomotive underside.
The lot includes the 259E locomotive, the Lionel Lines tender, and a black pressed steel flatcar.
CONDITION
Good. All three pieces display honest wear consistent with play and age, including surface scratching across the locomotive boiler and tender body, light scuffing to the pilot and footboard areas, and a dent noted to the tender. Untested electrically.
