David Brown Co Lawrence MA Loom Shuttle Pair Brass Ends 16.75"
Pair of antique boat-style weaving loom shuttles produced by The David Brown Co., Lawrence, Massachusetts, a manufacturer supplying equipment to New England textile mills during the height of the American industrial textile era. One shuttle retains the stamped maker’s mark “THE DAVID BROWN CO. LAWRENCE, MASS.” These examples feature classic solid hardwood bodies, brass bobbin retaining rings, and metal-capped tips designed to withstand high-speed operation in mill looms.
Shuttles of this style were used in flying shuttle power looms, carrying the bobbin of weft thread rapidly across warp threads during weaving. The construction and marked maker indicate production during the late 19th to early 20th century textile boom (circa 1890–1920) in Lawrence, one of America’s largest textile manufacturing centers. Today these pieces are sought after as industrial textile antiques, weaving collectibles, or decorative mill artifacts.
A distinctive pair of authentic American textile tools with strong historical character.
Condition:
Good condition with age-appropriate wear and signs of use. The wood shows surface wear, darkening, and marks consistent with working mill tools. Brass rings and metal tips show oxidation and patina from age. One shuttle is clearly maker marked. Comes exactly as shown.
Dimensions:
16.75 x 3 x 2 inches
