Stone Mano & Metate Grinding Set
A matched prehistoric grinding set consisting of a sandstone metate with a well-worn concave basin and a smooth, domed mano handstone. The metate's grinding surface shows a distinctly polished depression from sustained use, confirming its function. Both stones are a warm buff-tan sandstone with natural dark mineral inclusions throughout.
This lot includes both the metate basin stone and the mano handstone.
CONDITION Good. Both stones are intact with no cracks or breaks. The metate exterior carries heavy natural weathering with dark mineral staining across the surface. The mano shows light surface pitting consistent with age and use.
