Description

Signed Set — Las Cruces, New Mexico 1849–1999 & A History of the Mesilla Valley – 1903

Offered here is a signed two-volume set of regional histories published by Red Sky Publishing Co. of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Included are Las Cruces, New Mexico 1849–1999: Multicultural Crossroads by Gordon Owen (1999, hardback) and A History of the Mesilla Valley – 1903 by Maude Elizabeth McFie Bloom, edited by Lansing B. Bloom and annotated by Jo Tice Bloom (1998, softcover).

Gordon Owen’s Las Cruces 1849–1999 presents a comprehensive 150-year chronicle of the city’s evolution—from frontier settlement to modern cultural hub—highlighting the diverse influences that shaped its identity. In contrast, Maude McFie Bloom’s A History of the Mesilla Valley – 1903 provides one of the earliest recorded narratives of the region, drawing from firsthand accounts of early settlers and frontier life. The Red Sky editions, produced in Las Cruces and signed by the authors, bring together two essential perspectives: the scholarly overview and the pioneering voice that document the unique heritage of southern New Mexico.

Together, these works form a cornerstone collection for anyone interested in the history of the Mesilla Valley, Doña Ana County, and the cultural crossroads that define Las Cruces today.
