Dietz “Monarch” Kerosene Lantern, Maker Marked, Glass Globe, c.1930s–40s
Early 20th-century R.E. Dietz “Monarch” kerosene lantern, maker marked “MONARCH – NEW YORK U.S.A.” on the upper hood and base. Features a clear embossed glass globe marked “H5 LOC-NOB PAT’D 12-4-23,” referencing the 1923 patent for the Loc-Nob globe style. Constructed of steel with original black finish and wire guards enclosing the globe. A sturdy, functional design emblematic of Dietz’s cold-blast lanterns used for rail, farm, and utility lighting.
A collectible and display-worthy example of classic American lantern craftsmanship.
Condition
Good overall condition with light surface wear from age. Glass globe is excellent and fully intact with clear embossing. No remarkable damage or repairs noted.
