W. Kohler Lamp & Shade Co. Table Lamp — Copper Shade, Iron Base, Tucson
A table lamp by W. Kohler Lamp & Shade Co., pairing a verdigris-painted iron and steel base with a hand-fabricated solid copper shade. Wally Kohler founded his studio craft lamp business in 1979, and each shade passes through 22 distinct production steps — designs are plasma-cut by hand, and color is achieved through a proprietary natural-element patination process, with clear lacquer applied to the exterior to preserve the finish. This pyramidal shade is pierced and chased with a Southwestern landscape motif of stylized trees and radiating suns, the finish graduating from warm copper at the crown through amber and purple to dark brown at the lower panels. The iron base features a central basket-knot accent, a shallow bobeche collar, and a scrolled tripod foot, finished in deep teal verdigris. The Kohler name is stamped in relief on the shade exterior.
CONDITION Good; fully functional and tested, with natural patina to the copper shade consistent with age and use. The verdigris finish on the iron base is intact throughout.
Rewiring is recommended - The lamp powers on, however the plastic nut that secures the bulb socket at the base is damaged, which can cause the bulb to sit loosely. Replacement of the wiring/socket assembly is recommended for optimal use.
