(5) Rustic Mexican Folk Pottery Salt & Pepper Shakers – Figural Set
A charming group of five vintage Mexican hand-painted ceramic salt and pepper shakers showcasing whimsical figural designs. The assortment includes playful pigs, stylized birds, cactus forms, and traditional village figures, each modeled as a small sculptural piece and decorated with colorful glazes in earthy greens, warm terracotta, and soft cream tones.
Most pieces are marked “Mexico,” reflecting the vibrant mid-20th century export of Mexican folk pottery. Workshops in the well-known ceramic centers of Tonalá and Tlaquepaque in Jalisco produced many of these small decorative table accessories. Artisans shaped earthenware by hand and applied expressive painted details, turning simple household items into collectible folk art.
Condition
Good overall with scratching and small chips throughout, finish wear and loss throughout, and age-appropriate wear consistent with vintage handmade ceramics. One pig shaker shows a chipped foot.
