Crosley D-25MN "Dashboard" Tube Clock Radio — 1951, Maroon Bakelite, AVCO
The Crosley D-25MN, nicknamed the "Dashboard" by collectors, is a 1951 AM superheterodyne tube clock radio from Crosley/AVCO Manufacturing Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio. Its painted Bakelite cabinet is deliberately styled after contemporary American automobile instrument panels, with two circular gold-tone bezels flanking an original red and gold enamel heraldic shield badge. The left bezel frames an analog clock with Radio, Alarm, and Sleep sub-dials; the right carries the AM tuning scale with a bullet-style pointer. Two faceted red Bakelite knobs anchor the lower front, and the CROSLEY name is embossed in the fascia.
The rear fiberboard panel provides phono and radio input jacks, a phono/radio selector switch, and a switched timer outlet rated to 1100W at 115 VAC. Original power cord and antenna wire are present.
CONDITION Good. Tested and fully functional. The cabinet shows age-appropriate shelf wear with scattered light scratches and areas of finish loss; gold-tone bezels display minor surface oxidation consistent with the era.
