Hand-Crafted Iron Petroglyph Daybed – New Mexico Artisan Ironwork
This hand-crafted iron daybed is a striking work of New Mexico artisan metalcraft, richly patinated and sculptural in presence. Along the upper rails, an enchanting sequence of petroglyph-inspired figures creates a rhythmic narrative: a lively dog, an antlered human form, a rounded oryx-like animal, a tall corn stalk, a graceful deer, a classic Kokopelli in mid-song, and a sure-footed goat. Each silhouette is individually hand-cut from iron, displaying the gentle variations and expressive contours characteristic of custom metalwork.
At the corner post, an iron bird perches with quiet poise, its softly curved form offering dimensional contrast to the flat frieze of figures below. Heavy custom construction and a warm, earthy patina give the piece a commanding presence—equal parts folk art, sculpture, and functional design. A compelling focal point for Southwestern interiors, cabins, lodges, or collections of distinctive handcrafted ironwork.
CONDITION
Excellent condition overall. Patination is intentional and evenly applied. The iron frame is solid and stable, and all decorative silhouettes and sculptural finials appear securely attached. The included mattress is clean but shows storage-related wear and minor damage; buyer may decline the mattress if preferred. Please review photos for details.
