Lucy F. Mexican Tree of Life Candleholder
Handcrafted Árbol de la Vida (Tree of Life) ceramic sculpture by Lucy F., marked “Hecho en México.” This intricately modeled terracotta piece features a central trunk branching into a lush array of flowers, butterflies, hummingbirds, doves, smaller songbirds, and a pair of owls nestled within a hollow. At the top, a shallow cup is formed to hold a taper candle, symbolizing divine light and continuity of life—an authentic element of traditional Mexican Tree of Life design.
Finished in warm brown, cream, and terracotta hues, the sculpture exemplifies mid- to late-20th-century Metepec-style craftsmanship, emphasizing sculptural form and natural harmony. A richly symbolic and visually balanced work of Mexican folk art, ideal as a display centerpiece.
Condition:
In good overall condition with finish wear and minor chipping consistent with age and handling, including a small chip on one hummingbird’s beak. Some light surface wear and finish loss present but stable and displays attractively.
