Description

Bob Cooper Signed Kokopelli Patinated Copper Wall Sculpture Framed

This Kokopelli wall sculpture is a hand-formed, torch-cut copper piece by Bob Cooper of Copper Images, the Santa Fe, New Mexico studio known for boldly graphic Southwest copper work produced in the late 20th century. The figure depicts the iconic hump-backed flute player in a dynamic, forward-leaning posture with articulated fingers raised and bent legs mid-dance — one of the most enduring symbols of the greater Southwest. Cooper's signature is inscribed directly into the copper surface, and the original Copper Images studio label remains intact on the backing, providing clear provenance.

The copper is finished in a rich verdigris patina of deep teal and blue-green, with warm copper breaking through at the edges and high points in the manner characteristic of Cooper's hand-worked technique. A cream leather belt is knotted at the waist with turquoise and white beads strung along the descending tails, adding a dimensional, craft-forward detail. The piece is presented in a rustic wood shadow-box frame with double matting in white and slate blue behind glass, ready to hang as acquired.

Bob Cooper's patinated copper sculptures are a recognized fixture of the New Mexico estate and collector market, sought for their strong regional identity and graphic presence. This piece suits Southwest, desert modern, or bohemian interiors equally well. Please refer to the Condition section for current state details.
