Pair of large-format illustrated hardcover reference books, including The Way of the Animal Powers: Historical Atlas of World Mythology, Volume I (Joseph Campbell, Summerfield Press, London, 1983) and Atlas of Dog Breeds of the World, Volume II, Fourth Edition (Bonnie Wilcox, DVM, and Chris Walkowicz, T.F.H. Publications, 1993).
Campbell’s work forms part of his unfinished Historical Atlas of World Mythology, a scholarly exploration of mythic systems from prehistoric and tribal cultures, richly illustrated with color maps and ethnographic imagery. The Wilcox and Walkowicz volume offers an authoritative visual survey of canine breeds worldwide, widely respected among breeders and enthusiasts. Campbell’s book retains its original dust jacket; the Wilcox volume is without one.
Condition
Overall good condition. The Atlas of Dog Breeds volume is in fair condition, showing water staining to the first few pages and a black Sharpie mark on the page edge. Both bindings are firm and intact. Campbell’s dust jacket exhibits moderate shelf wear and light creasing; interior pages remain clean and bright. Covers show expected handling wear consistent with age and use.
