Homer Laughlin “Golden Wheat” Service for 8+
115 Piece Dinnerware Set, 1949–1966
Extensive Homer Laughlin “Golden Wheat” dinnerware set, produced in the USA between 1949 and 1966. This discontinued pattern features a golden wheat sheaf design with hand-applied 22K gold trim on a warm cream body, crafted in the company’s elegant Eggshell Nautilus shape. A complete 115-piece collection offering a full service for eight plus with multiple serving and accessory pieces, each with the timeless style of mid-century American design.
History:
Introduced in 1949, the “Golden Wheat” pattern became one of the most recognized dinnerware designs of the postwar era. Produced by the Homer Laughlin China Company of Newell, West Virginia, it symbolized abundance and optimism during the 1950s. Distributed nationally through General Mills promotions and grocery-store premium programs, the pattern reached millions of American households. Each piece was trimmed in 22-karat gold and oven-proof — combining beauty with durability. Production ended in 1966, and today “Golden Wheat” remains a sought-after collectible for its nostalgic charm and historic role in mid-century American dining culture.
