Seguro Espiritual Hand-Painted Tin Retablo, R. Pinder Taller, Mexico
Colorful Seguro Espiritual retablo, handcrafted at R. Pinder Taller in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. Constructed of pressed steel with three hinged glass-panel doors, this devotional wall piece is richly hand-painted in vivid red with abundant floral motifs, glittered blue surrounds, hummingbirds, and a raised sacred heart at the crest.
Each panel opens to reveal a sacred image dedicated to life’s essential blessings:
- Left Panel (Salud): Our Lady of Guadalupe
- Center Panel (Dinero): Saint Jude Thaddeus (San Judas Tadeo), often invoked for hope and financial aid
- Right Panel (Y Amor): Saint Anthony of Padua (San Antonio de Padua), traditionally associated with love and relationships
Rooted in the centuries-old Mexican tin retablo tradition, this piece blends Catholic devotion with vibrant folk artistry. Attributed to the Pinder workshop, known for its detailed tin-and-glass devotional works, it reflects the enduring artisan culture of San Miguel de Allende. A striking wall-mountable example for collectors of Latin American folk art and religious objects.
