Description

Janice M. Smith “Laughing Spirits” Mixed Media Wall Sculpture – 24”

Original mixed media wall sculpture by New Mexico artist Janice M. Smith, from her Laughing Spirits studio. Crafted from masonite, cedar twig, gourd, and copper wire, this evocative piece unites natural textures and geometric form in a richly layered composition. Earth-toned pigments of ochre, rust, and plum interplay with the warmth of wood and metal, centering around a gourd-like dome wrapped in copper wire. The result is both organic and architectural—an homage to the spirit and landscape of the American Southwest.

Labeled on verso: “Laughing Spirits – The original artworks of Janice M. Smith, Rio Rancho, NM.” A fine example of Smith’s signature fusion of natural materials and contemporary abstraction, ideal for collectors of Southwestern or mixed-media art.
