1940s–50s Chinese Carved Hardwood Bar Cabinet

Mid-20th century Chinese Export carved hardwood bar cabinet, richly detailed with deep figural and landscape relief panels depicting courtly scenes. Crafted for Western export markets between the 1930s and 1950s, this piece exemplifies the continuation of traditional Chinese hand-carving adapted to Western functional design. The ebonized framework contrasts beautifully with warm amber-toned panels, showcasing exceptional artistry and balance.

The lift-top opens to a mirrored interior with fitted storage for bottles and glassware. Each side features two corner cabinets (front and rear), each with four hanging spaces accommodating eight glasses in total, alongside five shelves per side measuring approximately 6" x 11" x 3½". The mirrored base includes six recessed wells for bottles or cups. Below, double doors open to reveal two drawers and a pull-out shelf with capacity for twelve bottles. Supported on stylized claw feet, the cabinet demonstrates the intricate craftsmanship associated with export furniture of the period—akin to examples attributed to George Zee.

Condition
