George Harrison & Bob Dylan – Concert for Bangla Desh 3LP Box Set, Apple 1971
Original 1971 pressing of The Concert for Bangla Desh, the historic triple-LP box set issued by Apple Records (STCX 3385) and produced by George Harrison and Phil Spector. This powerful release documents the landmark benefit concert held August 1, 1971, at Madison Square Garden, featuring an all-star lineup: George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Ravi Shankar, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, and more. Dylan’s set—his first live appearance in over two years—is a standout moment, featuring “A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall”, “Blowin’ in the Wind”, and “Just Like a Woman”.
The set includes all three heavyweight vinyl LPs with custom Bangla Desh center labels, housed in the original orange slipcase. A full-size photo booklet and illustrated insert showing humanitarian aid in a guitar case are included. Track highlights also include Harrison's “My Sweet Lord”, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, and Ravi Shankar’s deeply moving Indian classical performance “Bangla Dhun” with Ali Akbar Khan and Alla Rakha.
Winner of the 1973 Grammy Award for Album of the Year, this is widely recognized as the first major rock charity concert album. A pivotal moment in music history and a rare collaboration of giants at the peak of their powers.
