Description

James Taylor – Greatest Hits (1976 Warner Bros. BS 2979, Burbank Label)

Original 1976 U.S. pressing of James Taylor’s Greatest Hits, issued by Warner Bros. Records (catalog BS 2979). Features the distinctive “Burbank – Home of Warner Bros. Records” palm tree label design used on first pressings. This landmark compilation gathers Taylor’s most beloved tracks, including “Fire and Rain,” “Sweet Baby James,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” and “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You).”

Notably, two songs — “Something in the Way She Moves” and “Carolina in My Mind” — were newly re-recorded for this release, making this edition essential for collectors. Includes both sides produced by Peter Asher, with contributions from Lenny Waronker, Russ Titelman, and David Spinozza.

A cornerstone 1970s singer-songwriter LP, this album has sold over 11 million copies in the U.S. and remains the definitive introduction to Taylor’s Warner-era sound.

Condition:

Record shows moderate surface wear with visible scuffs and a few longer scratches (see photos), which may produce occasional background noise or light pops during playback. Labels remain bright and legible with no writing or tears. Outer sleeve exhibits general age toning, ring impression, and a faint mark from a removed price sticker. Structurally sound spine and seams.
Vinyl: Good to Very Good – / Jacket: Good +
