Biography:
Dick Lawrence began his photographic journey in 1960, developing his craft in the darkroom before embracing color and, eventually, the digital tools that define his current work. Strongly influenced by Ansel Adams, Lawrence has studied under master photographers including Bruce Barnbaum, Freeman Patterson, and Paul Schrantz. Their mentorship shaped his ability to see beyond the literal and infuse his images with emotional and artistic depth.

A lifelong educator, Lawrence has taught photography in Seattle and Mexico and led workshops in Patzcuaro and Oaxaca. His work has been widely exhibited and is held in the New Mexico State Photo Archives. Now in his eighth decade, he continues to create expressive, accessible fine art grounded in a profound respect for the landscape and the photographic medium.
