Description

Bob Cooper “Masks” Copper Wall Sculpture – Signed, Shadowbox Frame, Santa Fe NM

Striking handcrafted copper wall sculpture titled “Masks” by Bob Cooper, from his Copper Images studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This evocative composition features three stylized mask forms joined by a flowing wing and arrow motif, rendered in richly patinated copper with layered turquoise and verdigris tones. The piece showcases Cooper’s signature textural finish, where natural oxidation enhances the organic depth and sculptural form. Signed “Cooper” on the lower right mask and mounted within a custom shadowbox frame featuring a brass title plaque inscribed “MASKS – BOB COOPER.”

A superb example of Cooper’s work, blending Southwestern artistic sensibility with modern sculptural abstraction. The artwork’s dimensional copper relief and deep-set framing create a dynamic presentation that captures light and texture beautifully — an engaging focal point for collectors of regional and contemporary metal art.

Artist Biography:

Bob Cooper is an American sculptor and metal artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, best known for his Copper Images series of patinated copper wall sculptures. Active throughout the late 20th century, Cooper developed a distinctive aesthetic combining Southwestern cultural influences with modern design abstraction. His works often depict symbolic or spiritual forms—such as masks, figures, and natural motifs—crafted through hand-forged copper and heat-induced patina processes.

Each piece reflects Cooper’s mastery of metalwork and his ability to evoke emotion through texture, form, and color. His creations have been shown in galleries across the American Southwest and are prized among collectors for their craftsmanship, rich verdigris coloration, and connection to regional artistry.
