Wild Flowers of the United States Vol. 6 – Ricketts, 3-Part Set, McGraw-Hill
This complete three-part set of Wild Flowers of the United States, Volume Six: The Central Mountains and Plains by Harold William Rickett is a richly illustrated botanical reference, published by McGraw-Hill in 1973 in collaboration with The New York Botanical Garden. Each volume is bound in red cloth with gilt-stamped titles and decorative floral motifs, housed in the original printed slipcase featuring a Columbine cover image.
Volume Six explores the wildflowers of the Central Mountains and Plains region—spanning parts of the Dakotas, the Rocky Mountain states, and adjacent plains—with hundreds of full-color photographic plates and informative yet accessible text. Rickett, a noted botanist and longtime NYBG associate, created this landmark series to document native flora across the United States. This set (Parts One, Two, and Three) comprises approximately 784 pages of visually rich, scientifically grounded content suitable for naturalists, educators, and collectors alike.
This is a standout example from one of the only comprehensive, regionally structured wildflower series ever published in the U.S.—a valuable resource and a striking shelf presence.
Condition:
In very good condition overall. All three volumes display clean red cloth covers with bright gilt lettering; Part Two shows a faint scuff near the base. The slipcase is intact and structurally sound with minor edge wear and a few small rub marks at corners. Interiors are not pictured but are presumed clean and complete unless otherwise noted.
