New Haven “Braddock” Oak Calendar Regulator Clock — Antique, Working, w/ Key
Antique New Haven “Braddock” Calendar Regulator Clock, made in the early 1900s by the New Haven Clock Company of Connecticut. This model is notable for its dual dial system, displaying both Roman numerals for time and a full 1–31 calendar ring, a rare feature among wall regulators. The dial is marked “NEW HAVEN U.S.A.”, and retains its original pierced black hands and distinctive red calendar hand.
The clock is housed in a solid oak case with decorative turned spindles and a boldly framed octagonal face. The glass lower door bears the stenciled word “REGULATOR” in gold, and reveals the ornate brass pendulum, included with the original winding key. A partially preserved paper label inside confirms the model name “Braddock” and ties it to the American Wringer Co. of New York, a known distributor. Faint writing on the back panel—likely “John Schneider”—suggests early provenance.
Produced during the height of the New Haven Clock Co.'s prominence, this piece represents a more uncommon calendar regulator design cataloged under its own model name.
Condition:
In good condition overall. Cosmetically, the oak case shows mild surface wear and small edge chips, consistent with age. The dial has moderate spotting and patina but retains clear numerals and markings. The clock runs well, keeps accurate time, and comes with pendulum and key. The interior label is partially intact and legible.
