AT&SF Railway Galvanized Long-Spout Oil Can — 26" Tall w/ Handle
A tall galvanized steel oil or kerosene filler can marked “AT&SF RY”, indicating service with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, one of the major U.S. railroads of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This industrial piece was likely used for fueling lanterns or lubricating locomotive parts in shop or yard settings.
Designed for utility, the can features an exceptionally long, tapered spout for controlled pouring, a riveted side handle, and a capped filler neck. The body is embossed “AT&SF RY”, a detail prized by collectors of railroad maintenance tools. Its utilitarian shape and authentic surface wear make it a compelling display piece for lovers of early railroading and industrial heritage.
Condition:
In fair to good vintage condition. Shows denting, oxidation, and age-appropriate wear throughout. The spout exhibits multiple indentations and minor chipping at the tip. Cap threads appear intact; surface rust and mineral deposits are visible, especially near the base. Structurally sound. Please see all images for condition reference.
Dimensions:
Size (Including Handle and Spout): 26 x 9 x 6.5 inches (Height x Width x Diameter)
Weight: 2 lbs
